Get in the know

Choosing a photographer is one of the most important parts of the wedding planning process, and you should have a lot of questions.

Here are answers to a few of the questions couples ask us most frequently. Have others? Contact us - we’d love to talk in person.

What type of photography style is Hamilton Photography?
Our style is a blend of photojournalism, traditional elegance and landscape portraiture. It produces a very natural perspective with touches of epic moments and artistic images!
Do you take traditional photos, or are all of your photos candid?
We believe it’s important to have a combination of both. We carve a little time during the pre-ceremony and right after the ceremony for traditional portraits because we believe that family is very important and the little bit of time we take to get these photos will be cherished for a lifetime and beyond. Of course, photojournalism is what we love and where our true skill sets shine so you will see a ton of great in-the-moment candid photos as well.
What makes you different from other photographers?
With many years of experience, we have been acknowledged for our unobtrusive, natural and artistic approach. We have refined and perfected our post-production techniques and our customer service to ensure you are thrilled with your experience.
Who will be my photographer?
Hamilton Photography has a staff of four main photographers. You can see their bios, portfolios and accolades here. You will know which photographer you will work with before you sign a contract.

Our style is very similar, since everyone has been trained by Mark and Christina to deliver Hamilton Photography excellence.
Do you work with an assistant/second photographer?
Yes, all of our packages include a second professional photographer (not just an assistant). The second photographer offers a different but complementary perspective and allows us to work efficiently throughout the entire day.

Many of our second shooters have been with us for five or more years and each one of them have been fully trained on our style, approach and client care.
Have you photographed at my venue before?
Over our many years of experience working in the wedding industry, we have gotten to work at numerous wedding venues in and around Annapolis, the Eastern Shore, Baltimore and DC. You will see our name on many wedding professional preferred lists because we can be trusted to provide you with the excellence you deserve.

Please check out our galleries to see all the places we’ve been! If we haven’t been to your venue before, you can be sure that we will do our research to map out the best spots and familiarize ourselves with the venue prior to your big day.
Tell me a little more about your studio staff.
We describe ourselves as a boutique-plus studio. Mark and Christina provide the artistic direction and with the help of a few key people, we offer our clients with the utmost care, quality and customer service you deserve, all without sacrificing efficiency. This is not a one-person job so meet our staff.!
Do you edit the photographs?
Of course! We are professionals and every photograph is edited by hand by our studio staff to make sure they photos have our signature style. This involves color correction, exposure adjustments, selective black and white processing, clarity adjustments, tone mapping among other things.

Additional editing such as blemish removals, hair adjustments etc. is done for all the photos that will get printed in an album, enlargement or any other purchase through Hamilton Photography.
Do we get any black-and-white photos?
Yes! We are digital photographers so everything is shot in color. During our post-production process we work with filters to transform carefully selected images into artistic black and whites. If for any reason you want only color photographs, just let us know!
Do I get printing rights to my photographs?
All of our packages include copyrights to your photographs.
How long before I get to see my photos and how many will I get?
We pride ourselves in high quality editing and efficient turn around time. We know you are excited to see your photos but we also want to give them the attention they deserve. The average turn around time is 3 to 4 weeks. A typical 6-8 hour wedding will produce about 800-1000 final images but because every wedding is different, we don’t guarantee a specific number.
What do I get with my photography package?
All of our packages include 2 photographers, all edited photos in high resolution digital format, an online viewing and ordering gallery, a certain amount of artistic enhancements and copyrights to your photographs. Some of our packages also include wedding albums and upgrade credits. Contact us for pricing and package information.
On average, how much do people spend on your photography services?
On average, a client will spend $4000-$5000, however, we offer different packages to cater a variety of options and budgets. We know that every wedding is unique so custom packages are available and encouraged, Contact us to create a custom package!
How do I book Hamilton Photography?
A signed contract and one -third of the package price is all you need. If you are not sure what package to go with, but you want to secure your date and your photographer, you can send us a deposit of $1000 which will be credited toward your account once you make a package choice.
Do you take credit cards?
Most of our clients pay by check. We do offer the option of credit card payments but there is a 3% surcharge for this service.
How far in advance should we book with you?
On average, we book nine to eighteen months before a wedding date. If you know you want to work with us or you are very interested in getting to know us more, contact us, we’d love to hear more about your wedding!
If you could tell me three things I have to do when preparing for my wedding, what would they be?
•Don’t be afraid to smile, laugh and be outwardly emotional around the camera
•Get comfortable in your wedding dress. Try it on and walk, sit and dance so that the day of your wedding you are more natural in it! It makes a difference.
•Of course, hire a photographer that not only has the style you love but a personality that you want to work with!
Do you photograph destination weddings?
Yes we do. We typically only do one destination wedding a year due to our busy schedule. Our package rates are reasonable, so contact us if you are interested in seeing some of our destination wedding photography work.
Do you only photograph weddings?
We photograph a lot of weddings and we love doing it! However, we truly enjoy photographing anything from Children’s, Family and Senior portraits, Product/Food photography, Mitzvahs and even Corporate Events. Contact us for more information on other events.
