• Naval Academy Wedding Photographer & William Paca House | Annapolis, MD | Katelyn & Michael •

If we had to pick one word to describe Katelyn & Michael’s wonderful wedding, it would be romantic!  The couple held their ceremony at the United States Naval Academy Chapel and the love emanating from them as they recited their vows was visible to all.  As they held hands and looked into each other’s eyes, Katelyn just couldn’t stop smiling at her new husband.  Later, the bride and groom would walk through the gardens of the William Paca House & Gardens and take their seats for the wedding reception – we asked Katelyn about that moment and she says that looking out into the gardens with her new husband sitting next to her and all of their closest family and friends around them was the most beautiful moment of her life!

And now for the details – Katelyn’s style in general is very classic and elegant, so of course she wanted her dress to reflect that!  The original dress that she chose was designed with sparkly beading around the waist – she worked very closely with the bridal salon to alter that into a simple, elegant satin sash.  With that, it became a timeless piece that could be passed on to a future daughter!

Katelyn’s lovely bouquet was designed by Floret + Vine, and it was a lush garden style arrangement of blush pink and white roses with eucalyptus greenery.  The cake was from Main & Market and was a two-tier, semi-naked cake with an ivory frosting drip that was decorated with blush toned blooms – it was as delicious as it looked!  The couple opted for a smaller wedding cake so that they could also have a dessert bar which included cannolis, key lime tarts, chocolate mousse cups & mini cupcakes – yum!

Their reception decor at the Paca House was soft, romantic & elegant!  Katelyn’s favorite pieces were the signs that she hand lettered for the reception – but the food & drinks for the cocktail hour were a close second!  The couple worked very closely with their caterer to design an unforgettable menu that included BBQ (for Michael’s Texan roots) and Crab Cakes (for Katelyn’s Annapolitan taste buds!).

We cannot close out this blog post without mentioning the couple’s romantic first dance!  The couple chose the song “Are You With Me” by Easton Corbin and there is a lovely story behind their choice.  The day Michael asked Katelyn to marry him, he asked “Are you with me?” in reference to the multiple cross-country moves the couple has undertaken in the last three years.  She, of course, said “Yes!”.  About two weeks before their wedding they decided that it would be perfect to have their first dance choreographed to the song with such a meaningful name.  They took dance lessons and practiced at home to pull it off but they loved every minute of it – and their hard work absolutely paid off!  One of our favorite shots from the day is of Michael exuberantly sweeping his new wife off her feet at the conclusion of their dance.

Now, scroll down to see all the beautiful shots from their wedding day!  Michael & Katelyn will be enjoying a honeymoon in Anguilla where they will relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the Eastern Caribbean – and after seeing their beautiful wedding and all their romantic details, I think you’ll agree they have earned it!
